Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) is a government-open university. UPRTOU is recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), AICTE and UGC’s Distance Education Bureau. Established in 1999, UPRTOU is located in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad). The open university operates from 9 schools and offers UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and PhD programmes. Admission to the majority of the courses is merit-based except B.Ed, B.Ed (SE) programs. Admissions into the Education courses, the university conducts its own entrance exam.
